Visualize global device connections interactively on the web platform

Project Goal

To create an interactive web app that visually represents TeamViewer device connections across the globe, offering insights into usage patterns and facilitating remote troubleshooting.

Project Background

TeamViewer is a widely used software platform for remote control, desktop sharing, online meetings, and file transfer between computers. It is utilized by businesses, IT professionals, and individuals worldwide to facilitate remote access and support.

The need for this project arises from the growing complexity of global device networks managed using TeamViewer. As businesses expand globally, they often face challenges in understanding and optimizing their remote support and device management strategies. The ability to visualize device connections on a global scale can provide valuable insights into usage patterns, network health, and potential optimization opportunities.

By creating an interactive web application that visualizes TeamViewer's device connections on a globe, we aim to offer users a comprehensive view of their network. This tool will enable users to identify trends such as regions with high device density, and make informed decisions to improve efficiency and effectiveness in managing their global device networks.

Client

Solution

We developed a user-friendly web application that utilizes TeamViewer's data on device locations, types, and regions to create a dynamic globe visualization. Users can explore connections, filter by device type or region, and gain valuable insights into their network's global reach and activity. The app offers a comprehensive view of device connections, aiding in troubleshooting and optimizing remote support strategies.

Results

Our solution provides TeamViewer users with a visually intuitive way to understand and analyze their global device connections.

Discovery

During the discovery phase, a data prototype was programmed to demonstrate data patterns from TeamViewer's device connections. A user interface was developed to select data parameters such as device type, region, and connection frequency. This prototype was instrumental in helping the creative team understand the nuances of TeamViewer's data, enabling them to craft a compelling narrative around device connections and network insights.

Visual Data Explorations

After the discovery phase, we focused on visualizing global data for TeamViewer, shifting to web platform tools like WebGL, Three.js, and Blender. Using JavaScript, we developed algorithms to analyze and represent device connections. The concept prototype was made immersive with computer graphic techniques and made to run in real-time, presenting data in different forms for a more engaging experience.

Yoga, its Kinetics and form

These forms have an underlying rhythm and dynamics that we particularly wanted to capture. To further elaborate, we were interested in capturing the body forms in between the start and finish postures, and how the body segued with the breath.
